Severin Sea Lodge

One of the larger hotels on Bamburi Beach, which lies north of Mombasa Island, the Severin Sea Lodge is German owned and has a sister property in Tsavo West. Set in extensive grounds, it offers two or three storey rondavels, in which the circular rooms are located. Winding paths lead to the beach and main reception, which features shops, bars and an outdoor dining area. The main restaurant is in the centre of the hotel and there is an a la carte dhow restaurant. 

Location and seasons

Severin Sea Lodge is situated directly on the shores of the Indian Ocean on Bamburi Beach, approximately 12 kilometers from Mombasa Town and 20 kilometers from Moi International Airport. Kenya’s north coast, one of her most popular beach holiday destinations, offers clear blue sea, marine parks, excellent water sports, coral reefs, monsoon winds, numerous hotels and beach resorts, family vacations, sun n sand, cultural and beach travel and more. Close to Mombasa, it is also within easy reach of Malindi, Lamu, Diani and many other popular Kenya safari resort hotels.

Accommodation

The hotel offers 200 rooms presented in traditional Swahili style all with ensuite bathrooms, twin beds, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, hair dryers, room safes, lounge area. Newer rooms are offered in bungalows, some of which offer king-sized beds and mini bars. Comfort rooms are larger and feature LCD satellite TV and extended bathroom. The Admiral suite offers separate living area, kitchenette, bar and lounge area. 

Dining and bars

The hotel draws its fruit, vegetables and eggs from its own organic farm. Most meals are served in the main Kisima Restaurant, which also features themed buffet suppers. The Kisima Pool Grill offers light lunches and snacks poolside. The Flame Tree Bistro offers pizza and pasta. The Imani Dhow is an a la carte seafood restaurant. The Safari bar and swing bars overlook the grounds and beach. The Johari Roof Terrace offers seasonal events and sundowners. The hotel offers a weekly entertainment program, stylish candlelight & gala dinners with International and African themes, varied after dinner entertainment which includes live music, acrobatic shows, fashion shows, Maasai warriors and traditional dance groups.

Child-friendly

The hotel welcomes children and offers: children’s meal-times, children’s play/TV room, babysitting and additional beds in rooms. 

What to see and do

Two swimming pools (one with Jacuzzi), comfortable pool beds with daily fresh towels, massage center in main building and massage parlors at the beach, billiard table, library, table tennis, Barracuda scuba diving & water sports centre, floodlit tennis court and a 18-hole golf course nearby. The hotel offers a weekly entertainment program. Volleyball and sport games, stylish candlelight & gala dinners with International and African themes, varied after dinner entertainment which includes live music, acrobatic shows, fashion shows, Maasai warriors and traditional dance groups. 

The hotel lobby features a hospitality desk and is connected to a shopping arcade with souvenir shop, mini supermarket, jeweler, wood carving shop, hair dressing salon and hotel doctor clinic with daily consulting hours (except Sundays and public holidays). Two designated areas of the hotel show satellite television and the Internet Café »Bush Drum« is equipped with W-LAN also offering ice cream and pastries.
