Southern Palms is situated on the beautiful white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean at Diani Beach, 35 km south of Mombasa. A large (one of the largest in East Africa), relaxed, friendly and family-oriented resort, Southern Palms Beach Club enjoys 1000 feet of pristine beach front and is sent in spacious tropical grounds. Presented in a fusion of African and Swahili design, it offers a selection of restaurants, nightly entertainment and two fresh water swimming pools. Numerous sporting options are also offered. An added attraction is access to the nesting sites of the rare Hawksbill sea turtle (June-December). The resort offers 300 air conditioned rooms and 2 Luxury suites.

Diani beach is 25 miles south of Mombasa.
Accommodation
The resort offers 300 air conditioned rooms (3 categories) and 2 Luxury suites. All rooms are ensuite, air conditioned and have sea views and private patios (AC, ensuite bathroom, telephone, data port, voice mail, radio and TV). Most rooms have WiFi. The selection of suites offers self-catering kitchenettes.
Dining and bars
The Garden Terrace Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with various specialty nights such as buffet and BBQ’s accompanied by live entertainment 3 nights a week and during lunch on Sunday. The Khus Khus Bar also offers snacks.
Conference and event facilities
The hotel offers a conference facility capable of accommodating 80 guests and full banqueting and catering services are offered.
Child-friendly
The resort is exceptionally child friendly.
What to see and do
Southern Palms Beach Club facilities include two outdoor swimming pools, two flood-lit tennis courts, free water sports including windsurfing and weekly scuba instruction, and a mini gym. There is a mini golf course and shuffleboard court with weekly tournaments, where prizes can be won. A schedule of nightly entertainment is offered.
- Tennis - Day use is free; evenings are US$5.00 for use of the lights. George Grant, our tennis pro is available Monday to Saturday 8:00h-10:00h and 16:00h-18:00h for coaching, playing or just hitting. Racquets are available for rental at a rate of US$2.50/hour and tennis balls can be purchased
- Water sports - Include: snorkelling, body surfing (boogie boarding) or windsurfing and beach volleyball. All of these facilities are complimentary.
- Mini Golf - Putters and balls are available, free of charge, at the Water sports shop.
- Shuffleboard
- Scuba Diving - The scuba instructor will provide free weekly scuba lessons on Tuesdays at 10:30h to our guests in the main pool.
Other attractions
Diani Beach itself offers just about everything the visitor could wish for: restaurants, shops, golf course and night spots plus; the Colobus Trust, an area of indigenous forest that provides a sanctuary for the areas many colobus monkeys and the Kaya Kinondo, a cultural centre built around a sacred Kaya (grove) of the Digo people.
