A newly-built lodge, only recently opened and still in the process of being added to in terms of amenities, Sawela Lodge stands on the shores of Lake Naivasha, surrounded by typically lakeshore lawns and acacia trees. Relatively economically priced, the lodge offers simple but pleasant rooms and exceptionally friendly service. Future plans include the provision of a spa, golf course and sporting facilities. 

Enigmatic, and dotted with floating islands of Nile cabbage (water hyacinth) and papyrus, Lake Naivasha has no known outlet, and legends abound regarding the vast tunnels that supposedly run beneath its surface. Towered over by the brooding bulk of Mount Longonot (2,776 m), and featuring a submerged volcanic crater known as Crescent Island, beautiful Lake Naivasha is best known for its high numbers of water birds. Also for the haunting cry of the fish eagles, which feed on the black bass and tilapia of its waters. 

Location 

Sawela Lodge is on Moi South Lake Road, 18 kms from Naivasha town. Sawela Lodge is located on the shores of Lake Naivasha and close to Hell’s Gate National Park. Lake Naivasha is a 2 hour drive from Nairobi  (approx 100 kms) and lies at the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Nearby are the lakes of Elementaita, Nakuru and Bogoria.. 

Accommodation 

Sawela Lodge offers 24 ensuite rooms (satellite TV, WiFi) pleasantly presented and with private balconies. Additionally there is a suite (2 bedrooms) with central seating area, which is ideal for honeymoons or family visits. 

Dining and bar provision

The central Restaurant serves both local and international cuisine on a buffet basis. 

Sawela Lodge offers a central Cheetah dining room and Buffalo bar. The lodge also holds special BBQ events on the lawns. There is also an outdoor Pool Bar. Meals are traditionally served buffet style and will include a broad selection of Kenya, international and local choices. Vegetarian options are always provided by the safari lodge and children’s mealtimes and menus can usually be arranged with prior notice.

Family and children on safari 

Sawela Lodge welcomes children and can arrange baby-sitting upon request. Cots and extra beds provided. No age-limit for children at this safari lodge. 

Conference facilities 

Sawela Lodge offers a conference room, which will accommodate up to 35 guests (AV services are supplied and packages are available). Lake Naivasha is within easy driving distance of Nairobi (2 hours) and this safari lodge therefore makes a perfect out of town conference venue. A popular Kenya conference and event venue, Sawela Lodge offers a range of conference and event services to include conference rooms, break-out area, conference banqueting, incentive options, and safari social events catering.
