The relatively new Sentrim Samburu Camp is a luxury tented camp, which is located within the boundaries of the Samburu Game Reserve. Situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, it offers just 20 tents, a central dining, bar and lounge area, gift shop, and a swimming pool, sundeck and Jacuzzi. The camp is 15 minute’s drive from the airstrip.
The Samburu National Reserve of northern Kenya, conjoined with the smaller but no less attractive Buffalo Springs and Shaba Reserve, lies 320 kilometres from Nairobi (6 hours by road, an hour by air)at an altitude of 857 meters above sea level. 345 km
Wildlife highlights: elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal, buffalo, hippo, zebra, oryx, gerenuk, gazelle, gerenuk, hyrax and klipspringer. Birds: 395 recorded species.
The lodge offers just 20 tents, (5 deluxe with private Jacuzzis). Each tent has an ensuite bathroom (hot and cold running water, shower and flushed WC), safe, fridge, hairdryer, ceiling fan, tea and coffee facilities, 24-hour generator power, laundry and room service.
Dining and bars
The central dining room is presented in traditional Samburu style and features a wide selection of typically buffet presentations, which reflect international and local cuisine and always provide vegetarian options. The bar overlooks the river. Cultural performances by the local Samburu people are offered during the evenings.
The camp welcomes children.
Activites include guided nature walks, game drives in 4x4 safari vehicles, sundowners in the bush and picnics.
