The Manor at Ngorongoro

The Manor at Ngorongoro is reminiscent of an elegant, up-country manor house presented in the Cape Dutch style of architecture. Standing on its own 1,500-acre estate known as Shangri-La, it is immediately adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Impeccably presented, the house offers a charmingly decorated lounge, bar and library, all with working fireplaces. There is also a dining conservatory, snooker room, home theatre, sauna and steam, swimming pool and tennis courts. Dotted through the mature gardens are 20 guest cottages, each with private courtyard and deck, and with indoor and outdoor fireplaces.

Location

The Manor at Ngorongoro is adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area within the 1500 acre, Shangri-La Estate in northern Tanzania. The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, which lies south-east of the Serengeti National Park, 165 kms from Arusha.

Safari wildlife highlights

The Ngorongoro Crater hosts a large population of ungulates and high numbers of predators, particularly lion. The only absentees from the usual East African large mammals are the giraffe, impala and female and young elephants.

The Manor at Ngorongoro offers 20 guest cottages each with a private courtyard and deck and ensuite bathrooms featuring traditional bathtubs and rain showers and 24/7 electricity, hot water and hair dryers. There are indoor and outdoor fireplaces. The Manor at Ngorongoro also offers a three-bedroom family cottage to accommodate 4 adults and 2 children. Specifically the accommodation offers:

The manor offers a choice of dining spaces, formal and informal, inside and outside. Meals can also be taken on the private verandahs of the cottages themselves. The manor’s chef offers a fusion of international and African cuisine while the lodge boasts and extensive and carefully selected wine cellar.

Conference and event facilities

The Manor at Ngorongoro does not offer specific conference facilities but will be happy to quote for small meetings and social gatherings. Tanzania lodge incentives can also be arranged within the Ngorongoro Crater or the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Child-friendly facilities

The Manor at Ngorongoro welcomes children and will be pleased to supply additional beds. The lodge also offers a family cottage to accommodate 4 adults and two children while activities include horse-riding, a children’s bike trail, swimming pool and home theatre.

Typical Tanzania safari experiences at The Manor at Ngorongoro include: morning or afternoon tours of the Ngorongoro Crater, safari game drives in especially adapted 4WD safari vehicles (with professionally trained Tanzania safari guides) around the crater rim, safari bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners; cocktails around the lodge safari campfire and guided safari walks around the crater rim, visits to view ancient rock art.
