Mbalageti Serengeti Camp

The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp lies in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, at Mwamyeni hill and enjoys spectacular sunsets and views over the endless plains and the Mbalageti River, after which the camp is named.  Luxuriously appointed, The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp offers a high level of comfort and spectacular surroundings. Run by the Sandhu Family, it also promises a warm welcome and a high level of personal attention. Located on the banks of a river which can be subject to seasonal floods, the camp also boasts its own private swing bridge.

Location

The Serengeti National Park is 200 kms west of Arusha, Tanzania: the park’s northern boundary abuts with the Kenya border, its western boundary reaches Lake Victoria, Tanzania. The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp is located in the Western corridor of the Serengeti National Park and is accessed either via the Mwanza-Musoma highway, through the Ndabaka gate (1. 5hrs) or from Arusha, via the Naabi gate (3hrs).

Accommodation

The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp offers 26 luxury tented chalets and suites, which are widely spaced so as to ensure optimum privacy and exclusivity. Located on either side of Mwamyeni Hill, each chalet enjoys either a stunning sunset or sunrise. Presented with a modern and stylish feel, The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp has been made using local materials from within the area and each chalet has its own traditional palm-thatched roof. The standard of interior décor is high. Each chalet offers; private verandah, ensuite bathroom (with all facilities), safe, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, generator electricity, free internet access and wake-up calls. Provision for physically challenged guests is offered.

Dining and bars

The central restaurant, bar and lounge area are delightfully presented and offer both a la carte, buffet and African-themed meals. The bar offers a library of Africana books, games, magazines and even an artist’s easel for those who would like to capture the ambience in watercolours. The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp also offers a charming outside ‘tea garden’

Conference and event facilities


The camp offers conference facilities for 24 delegates (as well as its own board room). Conference and incentive packages and full support services are offered inclusive of free internet services. The camp makes the ideal wedding venue and a special honeymoon chalet is offered with luxury outdoor bathtub.

Child-friendly


Children are welcome althought triple rooms are not offered.

What to see and do

The annual wildebeest migration in the Serengeti,  a dip in the swimming pool, which has been hewn out of the rock of the living landscape offers a 360 degree view of the Serengeti as well as massage services. Complimentary lemonade and fruit kebabs are served by the pool side. Luxury spa massages and plunge pool are available in a private and tranquil setting.

Amongst the activities are guided nature walks and Luxury game drives (in the camps own 4.4 vehicle), while exclusively tailored bush dinners, breakfasts and sundowners can be provided (at additional cost). The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp can also arrange for spectacular balloon safaris across the Serengeti, landing to a full English breakfast cooked on the balloon burners.

Typical safari experiences at The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp: safari game drives in especially adapted 4WD safari vehicles (with professionally trained Tanzania safari guides), safari bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners; cocktails around the camp safari campfire and guided safari walks through the bush. The Mbalageti Serengeti Camp also offers ornithological tours, cultural performances and visits to the local Maasai people of Tanzania.
In the Serengeti, a particular highlight is a hot air balloon ride, which typically ascends from its launch site at dawn and travels for around an hour across the plains before descending in a controlled landing to a cooked safari breakfast in the bush.
