Tarangire River Camp

Tarangire River Camp, a luxury tented camp on Maasai communal ranch land adjacent to Tarangire National Park, is ideally placed to explore the ecosystems of both Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. Sited on the endless rolling golden grasslands and palm-fringed desert that lies between Tarangire and Lake Manyara, the camp offers the splendor of the Great Rift Valley, stunning views over Lake Manyara, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru; and easy access to the Ngorongoro Highlands.

The camp is also ideally placed for watching the migration of the wildebeest, which on the tree-less plains can be more easily and more graphically observed than elsewhere. The camp offers just 20 spacious tents, all surrounded by timber decks, while activities include guided walks, ornithology and cultural interaction with the Datoga and Maasai people, whose communities lie adjacent to the camp.

Location

Tarangire River Camp is situated on a 25,000 hectare Maasai communal ranch, which lies in the migration corridor that links Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park. The main gate of Tarangire National Park is 3.5km from the camp.

Accommodation

The 20 spacious double tents are raised on generous wooden decks, all are ensuite (hot and cold running water, showers and flushed WCs) and have 24-hour electricity. Services include laundry, early-morning tea and coffee and limited tent service.

Dining and bars

Tarangire River Camp offers a central dining room and bar with outdoor and indoor dining spaces. Dining is table d’hote or buffet. Private dining can also be offered on the individual decks of each tent.

Weddings and honeymoons

The camp makes an ideal Tanzania wedding destination.

Child-friendly facilities

The camp welcomes children and will be pleased to supply additional beds.

What to see and do:

Game drives, guided walking safaris (around the shores of Lake Manyara), bird watching on the shores of the not too distant Lake Manyara and cultural interaction with Datoga and Maasai, whose bomas populate the adjacent land.
