Paraa Safari Lodge was established in 1954 and is a traditional safari lodge in classic ‘Out of Africa’ style. The luxurious swimming pool overlooks the winding River Nile below, which was the setting for the classic Hollywood movie “The African Queen” (starring Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart). Offering a wide range of room choices including the exclusive ‘Queen’s Cottage’, Paraa Safari Lodge also offers a panoramic restaurant, cultural entertainment and a choice of bars. 

Location

Paraa Safari Lodge is located in North Western Uganda where it overlooks the Victoria Nile in Murchison Falls National Park. By air: Paraa Safari Lodge is a one hour flight from Entebbe International Airport to Pakuba or Bugungu airstrips within the national park, both 45 minutes drive from this safari lodge. Roads in the park can be rough and wet. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended.

Accommodation

Paraa Safari Lodge offers a wide selection of 54 room options such as; Standard ensuite rooms (overlooking the swimming pool, with balconies), suites (ensuite bedroom and sitting room), and the Queen’s Cottage (Stand alone cottage with luxury master bedroom with king-sized bed, second ensuite twin, living dining room and large balcony). All Paraa Safari Lodge rooms have fans and AC units, minibar, laundry, drinking water, gift shop, business centre.

Dining and bars

The Captain’s Table is on the upper floor of the Paraa Safari Lodge enjoying panoramic views. Seating is offered both inside and outside. BBQ’s and cultural dance performances are offered on Saturday nights. The Explorer’s Bar is situated on the upper floor adjacent to the restaurant. There is also a pool bar adjacent to the swimming pool.
