Kambi ya Tembo

Kambi Ya Tembo, ‘the camp of the elephant’, stands on the private conservancy of Sinya, which lies between the slopes of Kilimanjaro and the Kenyan Border at Amboseli. Facing the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro, this exclusive, intimate and high-end luxury tented camp overlooks endless African Savannah, which is home to some of the largest elephant herds in East Africa. A Masai conservancy, the 600sqkm Sinya conservancy is the ancestral home of some 2,000 Masai who live in traditional ‘bomas’ widely scattered throughout this seldom visited area. On the borders of Kenya’s world famous Amboseli National Park, Sinya offers magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido and Ol Doinyo Orok. A community conservation project carried out in cooperation with the local Maasai, the camp interacts closely with the local community, which allows its guests to experience authentic visits to local villages, cultural performances and ceremonies.
