Selous Wilderness Camp is situated on the banks of Rufiji River in a remote area of the reserve’s unspoiled wilderness zone. Offering just seven spacious tents, it offers both intimacy and exclusivity. The tented rooms with Makuti thatched roofs are set atop a platform and and include a family room and a honeymoon suite. The plush mess area with
an eclectic mixture of solid wood furniture and leather sofas, and the attentive, friendly Tanzanian hospitality and service provided to the guests belie the isolation and wilderness of the camp’s location. The Rufiji River, one of the largest water systems in East Africa, With its associated wetlands, lakes and swamps, is one of the most outstanding ecological systems and has elevated Selous Game Reserve to its designation as a World Heritage site.

Location:

Selous Game Reserve is in South-east Tanzania, south of Mikumi National Park. 30 minutes from Mtemere Air Strip (road and then scenic boat ride crossing the Rufiji) and 5 hrs by road from Dar es Salaam.

The central mess area stands under a traditional thatched roof and offers an intuitive mix of solid wooden furniture and leather sofas.

Accommodation

The seven spacious ensuite tents overlook the river and are sheltered beneath broad thatched roofs. All have fans, outside shower 24 hour power and battery charging facilities.
