Kilima Safari Camp

Located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Kilima Camp is set amidst 360 aces of mature wooded grounds with stunning views of Africa’s highest mountain and the legendary ’Snows of Kilimanjaro’. 

Facilities

Kilima Camp offers a spacious reception, which incorporates a nature room for wildlife lectures and provision of information. Kilima Camp also features a free-from swimming pool and a massage center and a medical centre. 

Location 

Kilima Camp lies 250 km south (four hours drive, one hour flight time) of Nairobi and close to the Tanzanian border and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Accommodation 

Kilima Camp offers 60 classic safari tents, each with double and single bed and large private veranda. There are also ten superior safari tents featuring four-poster double beds and luxury bathrooms with claw-foot bathtubs. All tents are provided with generator electricity and hot and cold running water, showers and wc. 

Dining and bars 

The camp offers a central dining and bar area. Typical tented camp menus will include buffet or table d’hote selections of international and regional dishes with vegetarian options.

Conferences, weddings and honeymoons

Although this tented camp does not offer specific conference facilities but small events can be accommodated. This tented camp also makes an ideal honeymoon or Kenya wedding venue.

Safari wildlife highlights: lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, zebra, hippo, spotted and striped hyena, giraffe, oryx, wildebeest, gerenuk, impala and Grant’s gazelle. Birds: 425 recorded species.

Activities and attractions

Typical safari experiences at Kilima Camp include: safari game drives in especially adapted 4WD safari vehicles (with professionally trained Kenya wildlife guides), safari bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners; cocktails around the safari campfire and guided wildlife walks through the bush. Kilima Camp also offers ornithological tours, cultural performances and local community visits.  

A particular highlight of a trip to Amboseli National Park is a hot air balloon ride, which typically ascends from its launch site at dawn and travels for around an hour across the plains before descending in a controlled landing to a cooked safari breakfast in the bush.

Here guests will be given a traditional Maasai welcome (with dance and song), experience a unique insight into the Maasai lifestyle in Kenya, learn more about Maasai handicrafts (beading and leatherwork) and have the opportunity to purchase Maasai artifacts direct from those who make them.
