Kichwa tembo (meaning ‘the elephant’s head) is a large and well-maintained tented camp just outside the National Reserve to the northwest. Kigio Wildlife Camp is a superb all-suite camp built within beautiful Yellow-fever woodland overlooking the Malewa River, approx. 2kms from Malewa Wildlife Lodge. Fig Tree Camp is one of the original Mara camps, located on the banks of the Talek River and enjoying breathtaking views across the plains. Recently completely refurbished it offers a welcoming ambience and a range of both tented and chalet accommodation. It is also one of the main sites for balloon safaris in the Mara. The camp is located on the banks of the Talek River on the northern border of the reserve, 240 kilometres from Nairobi (4-5 hours by road). 

The camp offers 30 spacious tents scattered among the trees and along the river bank. Rustic and natural, they feature handcrafted safari furniture-made of wood and leather – but are far from bsic. There are canopied beds, hand-woven rugs, full-lengthmirrors, electrified lanterns on barrel tables and zip-and-screen windows.
