Part of the Governors’ Camp stable of tented camp, Il Moran is for the discerning few, who expect that extra sense of luxury. A stylish and exclusive tented camp, Il Moran offers just ten beautifully furnished tents, all located on the banks of the famous Mara River. Il Moran tented camp is hidden in the shadow of ancient trees while its decor and ambiance recreates the atmosphere of the original hunting camps of the early colonial period. 

Location 

The Masai Mara is 270 miles from Nairobi (five hours by road). The reserve offers numerous airstrips and flights are typically less than an hour from Nairobi. 

Accommodation 

Il Moran offers ten luxurious tents all with large verandah overlooking the river. Each has a Victorian-styled bath, WC and double sinks (hot and cold water) and beds hand- carved from recycled and sustainable ancient olive-wood. Il Moran is hosted by Iain and Annie de Beer, who have a wealth of experience managing properties in South Africa and Tanzania. Game drives and game walks are included and complimentary wine is served with dinner.

Dining and bars 

During the day at Il Moran meals are served under the giant trees. For breakfast there are fresh fruits, cereals and fresh-baked breads, together with a full cooked breakfast, which is cooked al fresco before you. Lunch is typically served buffet-style. In the evening guests enjoy cordon bleu dinners by candlelight, deep in the bush. Alternatively, guests may request to have any or all meals served on their private veranda. 

The Il Moran menu will typically include a wide selection of typically East African Safari or Kenya favourites as well as numerous international choices (vegetarian options always available). 

Conference and event facilities 

Il Moran does not offer specific East Africa Safari conference facilities but will be happy to quote for small meetings and social gatherings or for incentive options centered on the annual migration of the wildebeest. 

Weddings and honeymoons 

This Kenya tented camp makes an ideal East African Safari honeymoon destination, more especially since it offers the chance of observing the annual migration of the wildebeest.
