Kinondo Kwetu Retreat

Kinondo Kwetu is a small, all-inclusive luxury resort owned and operated by a Swedish family. Kinondo Kwetu, a private retreat on the Indian Ocean beach,  is a home, not an entertainment centre. The retreat will accommodate only 38 guests in a selection of cottages, each of which is individually presented. There are two pools, a lounge, library and wellbeing spa.

Location

Diani beach is 25 miles south of Mombasa.

Accommodation

The retreat will accommodate 38 guests in an assortment of cottages, which can be adapted according to requirements. There are also two kitchens and access to the main family house. Every room and cottage has its own personalized character, and is furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicraft and antiquities. All double rooms are equipped with king size beds and all rooms with fans and mosquito nets.

Dining and bars

Kinondo Kwetu is renowned for its cuisine, which benefits from locally produced fruits and vegetables. Three-course lunches and dinners are served al fresco, with fresh fish and seafood being natural favourites. We are happy to make any arrangements to meet with personal diet requirements and children’s menus.

Conference and event facilities

The retreat adapts itself well to corporate retreats.

Child-friendly

The resort is very child friendly.

What to see and do

The vast East African reef is there for you to explore, be it scuba diving, snorkeling, or by boat. Try deep-sea fishing. Or learn kite boarding, an exhilarating and eco-friendly sport perfectly suited for the southern coast of Kenya. We have our own PADI center, so if you are thinking of getting a diving certificate, do it at Kinondo Kwetu.

Sailing enthusiast? Our small Kenyan outriggers will give you lots of fun. Or come along on a cruise on one of our traditional dhows. Or go horseback riding on one of our horses. We arrange excursions along the coast to nearby islands and up a river looking for crocodiles. And if you want to see wildlife, like elephants, giraffes, buffalos, antelopes, and other African animals in the wild, Shimba Hills National Park is only a short drive away.

Activities in short:

Scuba diving, PADI Snorkeling, Sailing, Kite surf, Deep sea fishing, Horseback riding (only for experienced riders), Tennis, Golf, Safari, Excursions.

Massage, Facial treatment, Manicure, Pedicure, Sauna, Yoga, Exercise

The activities on offer include swimming, snorkelling, sea kayaking, diving, water sports, dhow trips, glass-bottom boat trips, nature trails, butterfly farms, places of historic interest, visits to the nearby Shimba Hills (a coastal national park with plentiful elephant) or to the world-famous Arabuko Sokoke Forest, one of the last of the rainforests.
