Kibo Safari Camp

Located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Kibo Safari Camp (managed by the Patterson’s Group), is set amidst 190 acres of mature wooded grounds with stunning views of Africa’s highest mountain and the legendary ’Snows of Kilimanjaro’.

Kibo Safari Camp offers 61 spacious self-contained tents sheltered by traditional African ‘Makuti' thatched roofs. Each tent offers its own ensuite bathroom (hot and cold running water, flushed WC and shower), generator electricity and either single, double or triple bed configurations.

Dining and bars

Kibo Safari Camp offers an open veranda restaurant with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Meals are presented in buffet style and feature a wide range of cuisine (international, African and Asian). Picnic lunches can be provided and evening ‘sundowners’ are staged at a scenic view point. Kibo Safari Camp also offers its own bar facility.

Family friendly

Kibo Safari Camp welcomes children.

Conferences, weddings and honeymoons

Although this tented camp does not offer specific conference facilities but small events can be accommodated. This tented camp also makes an ideal honeymoon or Kenya wedding venue.

Safari wildlife highlights: lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, zebra, hippo, spotted and striped hyena, giraffe, oryx, wildebeest, gerenuk, impala and Grant’s gazelle. Birds: 425 recorded species.

Activities and attractions

Typical safari experiences at Kibo Safari Camp include: safari game drives in especially adapted 4WD safari vehicles (with professionally trained Kenya wildlife guides), safari bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners; cocktails around the safari campfire and guided wildlife walks through the bush. Kibo Safari Camp also offers ornithological tours, cultural performances and local community visits.

A particular highlight of a trip to Amboseli National Park is a hot air balloon ride, which typically ascends from its launch site at dawn and travels for around an hour across the plains before descending in a controlled landing to a cooked safari breakfast in the bush.

  • Safari game Drives - Experience the real safari – morning and afternoon wildlife game drives through Amboseli National Park, with our trained driver-guides. Picnic lunches and sundowners can be provided.
  • Wildlife watching and tracking
  • Nature walks - Guided walks through the bush with our professional wildlife guides and ornithologists.
  • Visit to an authentic Maasai En’kaang - To experience the true Maasai culture, we offer a visit to a traditional Maasai village or En’kaang. Here guests will be given a traditional Maasai welcome (with dance and song), experience a unique insight into the Maasai lifestyle in Kenya, learn more about Maasai handicrafts (beading and leatherwork) and have the opportunity to purchase Maasai artifacts direct from those who make them.
