A safari that is all you will need to experience wildlife game viewing of many species that are rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, such as the narrow-striped, large-earred Grevy zebra, graceful long-necked gerenuk, Beisa oryx, Reticulated giraffe, and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich. The trip begins in Nairobi, to spend a night in the shadow of the jagged snow-capped summits of Africa's second highest mountain, Mount Kenya, and on to a place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, Samburu National Reserve.

Mount Kenya National Park attractions include its pristine wilderness, lakes, tarns, glaciers and peaks of great beauty, geological variety, forest, mineral springs, rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game, unique montane and alpine vegetation with 11 species of endemic plants.

Samburu lies on the fringes of the vast and arid desert once known as the Northern Frontier District, whose heat-scorched scrublands extend all the way to the jade-green waters of Lake Turkana and beyond. Physically dramatic, the 104 sq km landscape of the Reserve features rocky battlements, craggy scarps, dry river beds and fallen boulders rising out of the thorn scrub against a backdrop of the far-distant hills and the great red table mountain known as Ololokwe. This rugged, hostile landscape is noted for all “the big five” and for cheetah. It is also home to animals typical of the drier northern regions.

Day 1: Nairobi - Mount Kenya

After pick up from Nairobi hotel or international airport, drive to your hotel situated in the shadow of Mt Kenya, Kenya's highest mountain, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game viewing, dinner and overnight game viewing from Mountain Lodge or similar.

Day 2: Mount Kenya - Samburu

Breakfast at the lodge. Morning drive to Samburu National Reserve, arriving by lunchtime. Lunch at the Lodge. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge or similar.

Day 3: Samburu

Early morning game drive before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Morning spent at leisure enjoying the lodge’s facilities. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge or similar.

Day 4: Samburu - Nairobi

Breakfast at the lodge. Morning drive back to Nairobi stopping for lunch at Trout Tree. Drop off at a Nairobi hotel or international airport.
