Lunch and afternoon game drive with an evening briefing on your “Fly Camping/Walking Safari”. Return to your camp for dinner and overnight at Olarro Camp   LDBB

DAY 3,4,5,6 & 7 – WALKING & FLY CAMPING ACROSS THE MASAI MARA

The next 5 nights will be an adventure of a life time, as you cross the richest wildlife area in Africa, on foot, up close and personal with nature. On your walking safari you will have your professional safari guide with long-established wildlife experience in the bush, a tracker and a porter. Walking we endeavor to conserve a genuine environment, a raw product not manufactured experience, full of plastic fixed alternatives. In addition, you will have a full support crew, with 4WD jeeps and trailers to go ahead and set camp each night. This crew will consist of cooks, waiters, tent staff and drivers and will vary depending on the number of people in your party.

The program over these five and a half days will vary, dependant on the weather, wildlife movements and the physical condition of you and your guests. Generally each day will be; to wake up with the sunrise with a mug of tea/coffee served in your tent. Breakfast in camp. Walk approx 4-5 hours in the cool of the morning. Arrive into your flycamp by lunchtime. Have a rest in the afternoon. Early evening game drive in the area. Dinner and overnight in the flycamp, which moves every day.

Your main luggage will move with the fly camp each day. All you will need to carry is a small day-pack which needs to be able to carry your camera, raincoat, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, fleece etc. Drinking water and a first aid box will be carried by porters. There are over 600,000 acres in this walking area. A significant portion of this is only accessible by foot where game trails are abundant, but roads are few and far between. This is how safaris are best conducted here. You will immediately notice the difference between a vehicle tour and one conducted on foot. Senses that may have been a little dulled in a car will strain to perceive indications of the wild game that surrounds you.  Your perception of the bush will change until you feel an intimate relationship with the environment itself.

Your daily walks along rivers and up the hills will reveal a number of quite remarkable sitings.  A phenomenal game area with significant populations of Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Giraffe, Buffalo, and plains game. Unusual species include side striped hyena and caracal, and tracking is easy in the rich alluvial soil. As you fly camp you will learn how to track, harvest honey, light fires the real way, make bows and arrows and stalk silently to short distances of your prey.

Sleeping out under the stars, the skies appear iridescent sparkling galaxies of stars, great consciousness can be made of this in the company of traditional astronomers. Follow the spoor of an Impala ram in the early morning and track it step by step through its daily routine.  Scrounging up fresh acacia pods, alarmed by the leopard, scratching its itchy horns on the trees nearby until there! There he is! Proud horns spiral into the air, an alarm bark and he stands stock-still. Three hours of tracking rewarded by a close glimpse, magnificent! Satisfying the soul.

Dinner and overnight at the Fly Camp LDBB

DAY 8: MASAI MARA

Arrive at Drive Alex Walker’s “Serian” a traditional bush camp in the Masai Mara, with a game drive en route. Arrive in time for lunch. Thereafter your last afternoon gamedrive.  Dinner and overnight at Serian Mara Camp LDBB
