One Night Lake Nakuru

This one night safari is ideal for those looking for a quick trip showcasing an overview of the lakes and volcanoes of the Great Rift Valley and the famous flamingoes and rhinos of Lake Nakuru. Dubbed "Bird Watchers Paradise" the lake is world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth - myriads of fuschia pink flamingoes whose numbers are legion, often more than a million. While Nakuru means "Dust or Dusty Place" in Maasai language, Lake Nakuru National Park also offers sanctuary to huge numbers of animals including waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, elands, endangered black rhinos, white rhinos and, occasionally, leopards. A large herd of hippos have a territory in the northern part of the lake, making for interesting game viewing

Day 1: Lake Nakuru

You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or international airport for drive into the spectacular Great Rift Valley, passing Lakes Naivasha and Elmentaita before arriving at Lake Nakuru, the most famous of the Great Rift Valley lakes and home to a shifting population of over one million flamingoes. Arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, which enjoys sweeping views across the lake. Spend the afternoon within Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya’s first and largest rhino sanctuary, where sightings of both black and white rhino are almost guaranteed; and where you have a higher than average chance of spotting a leopard. Other wildlife includes; lions, hippos, the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, colobus monkeys, numerous plains game and 450 species of birds. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (or similar)

Day 2: Nairobi

After breakfast drive back to Nairobi arriving by lunchtime. Drop off at a Nairobi hotel or international airport.
