Tree Hotel / Nakuru / Naivasha
LAS 201 - 3 days / 2 nights

This road safari allows for two nights that are a part of the traditional safari route in Kenya, highlighting some of Kenya's famous wildlife and includes a night in the Great Rift Valley. The tour starts from Nairobi to Serena Mountain lodge, a Treehotel perched on the slopes of Mount Kenya, for a whole night of game viewing within the Mount Kenya National Park, followed by a sojourn to Lake Nakuru National Park, the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth - myriads of fuschia pink flamingoes whose numbers are legion, often more than a million. The safari offers a vivid selection of exceptionally varied backdrops such as the Jagged snow-capped summits of Africa's second highest mountain dominating the horizon of Mount Kenya National Park which lies astride the equator and of Lake Nakuru's fabled flamingos feeding while rhinos graze on the lakeshore.

Day 1: The slopes of Mount Kenya

You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or international airport for drive across the plains of Mount Kenya and up into the foothills and forests of this, the second highest mountain in Africa. Arriving on the decks of your timber-built ‘ark’ hotel, Serena Mountain Lodge, in time for lunch, you are free to spend the afternoon watching the game around the water hole, taking a forest walk or visiting the photo-hide. Wildlife highlights include: elephants, buffalos, antelopes, water bucks, genet cats and leopards. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, you will depart for drive to Lake Nakuru, the most famous of the Great Rift Valley lakes and home to a shifting population of over one million flamingoes. Arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, which enjoys sweeping views across the lake. Spend the afternoon within Lake Nakuru National park, Kenya’s first and largest rhino sanctuary, where sightings of both black and white rhino are almost guaranteed; and where you have a higher than average chance of spotting a leopard. Other wildlife includes; lions, hippos, the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, colobus monkeys, numerous plains game and 450 species of birds. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (or similar)

Day 3: Nairobi

After breakfast, you will enjoy a final game drive as you drive out of the par and proceed to Nairobi arriving by lunchtime. Drop off at a Nairobi hotel or international airport.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NO CHILD UNDER 8 YEARS IS PERMITTED AT MOUNTAIN LODGE.
