Tloma Lodge is a small lodge situated in Karatu, in the Ngorongoro Highlands Area. Though not on the rim of the crater itself, the lodge stands on the raised shoulder of valley and offers magnificent views across extensive coffee plantations to the eastern wall of the Ngorongoro Crater. Built in the style of a colonial coffee plantation, the lodge is surrounded by mature gardens.

Safari wildlife highlights

The Ngorongoro Crater hosts a large population of ungulates and high numbers of predators, particularly lion. The only absentees from the usual East African large mammals are the giraffe, impala and female and young elephants.

Acommodation

Tloma Lodge offers 20 spacious ensuite cottages, built in the colonial style and surrounded by peaceful mature gardens. Each room has a large private verandah, mosquito nets and telephone.

Dining and bars

Tloma Lodge has a central interior dining room and bar, meals can also be served privately on the exterior decks of the cottages.

Conference and event facilities

Tloma Lodge does not offer specific conference facilities but will be happy to quote for small meetings and social gatherings. Tanzania lodge incentives can also be arranged within the Ngorongoro Crater or the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

This Tanzania lodge makes an ideal Tanzania wedding destination. The lodge also offers wedding and honeymoon packages.

What to see and do

The lodge has its own swimming pool and internet access. Guided walks are offered in the surrounding region. Cultural walks also offer an insight into the local Wairak culture. Massages can be provided.

Typical Tanzania safari experiences at Tloma Lodge include: morning or afternoon tours of the Ngorongoro Crater, safari game drives in especially adapted 4WD safari vehicles (with professionally trained Tanzania safari guides) around the crater rim, safari bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners; cocktails around the lodge safari campfire and guided safari walks around the crater rim, visits to view ancient rock art. Tloma Lodge also offers ornithological tours, cultural performances and visits to the local Maasai people of Tanzania.
