The most northern lodge in the Serengeti, and one of its earliest, Lobo Wildlife lodge is built around a huge rocky outcrop, known as kopje, merging magnificently into the landscape. Overlooking the plains, Lobo Wildlife lodge offers 76 rooms, a restaurant ringed by huge walls of granite, a rock swimming pool and bar and panoramic views over the Serengeti, venue for the annual migration of the wildebeest.

Location

The Serengeti National Park is 200 kms west of Arusha, Tanzania: the park’s northern boundary abuts with the Kenya border, its western boundary reaches Lake Victoria, Tanzania.

Accommodation

• The lodge has 76 luxury rooms over two levels, including one presidential suite. Specifically, the lodge accommodations include: 57 twin rooms, 18 double rooms (king-size bed) and one presidential room.
• All luxury rooms at the Lobo Wildlife lodge have a view over the Serengeti plains, and are naturally ventilated and fitted with mosquito nets over the air vents.
• It is quite common to find wildlife like giraffes near your bedroom at the lodge, munching on the leaves less than a meter away or the bush babies at night climbing the branches of the tree only seen by night vision binoculars or by a trained pair of eyes spotting two glowing eyes of the lemurs.

Dining and bars

• Meals at the Lobo Wildlife lodge are served in the Fig Tree Restaurant prepared by well-trained chefs serving a variety of international and local menus.  The restaurant is open from 7.00 to 9.00 am for breakfast, 12.30 to 2.30 pm for lunch and 7.30 to 9.00 pm for dinner.
• For early risers, Lobo Wildlife Lodge serves coffee and biscuits starting from 6.00 am.
• Other relaxation venues include The Laguna Lounge. The lounge is located within the immediate vicinity of the restaurant and opens on to a terrace, which provides an outstanding view over the park's wide-open spaces. Bar over two levels with open hearth, open from 11 am to 11 pm. The lounge was named "Laguna" further to the launch and tests conducted on the Renault vehicle of the same name in January 1994 attended by 700 international journalists.

Typical safari experiences at Lobo Wildlife lodge include: the annual wildebeest migration, safari game drives in especially adapted 4WD safari vehicles (with professionally trained Tanzania safari guides), safari bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners; cocktails around the lodge safari campfire and guided safari walks through the bush. Lobo Wildlife lodge also offers ornithological tours, cultural performances and visits to the local Maasai people of Tanzania.
In the Serengeti, a particular highlight is a hot air balloon ride, which typically ascends from its launch site at dawn and travels for around an hour across the plains before descending in a controlled landing to a cooked safari breakfast in the bush.
