The Emin Pasha Hotel styles itself a boutique hotel and with only twenty rooms it is elegantly appointed in the old world style. Located close to the city centre this city hotel is set in two acres of peaceful tropical gardens. The main house, where the reception, library and sitting rooms are located, was originally built in the 1920's as a private residence for a British entrepreneur. Tastefully and classically furnished with rich hardwood furniture and featuring a unique collection of Ugandan art and cultural artifacts, the Emin Pasha Hotel part of Wildplaces Africa, a collection of properties in Uganda with conservation, style and comfort at their core. Spearheaded by Jonathan and Pamela Wright, the Emin Pasha Hotel is the third in the growing collection, joined by Apoka Lodge in northern Uganda and Semliki Lodge in Western Uganda. All three properties are listed in Africa Geographic's 'Special Places', and both safari lodges are members of Classic Safari Camps of Africa.

Location

The Emin Pasha Hotel is in central Kampala. Kampala International Airport is located at Entebbe, 35 km (22 miles) away, while Port Bell on the shore of Lake Victoria is 10 km (7 miles) away.

Accommodation 

This boutique hotel offers twenty rooms and one self contained private flat. Each room features hardwood furniture, Egyptian cotton sheets, summer-weight duvets, giant soft towels, long deep cast iron bathtubs (salvaged from derelict colonial buildings and re-enameled) or giant tropical 'monsoon' showers with African slate floors. Most rooms in the Emin Pasha Hotel have small private terraces or sitting areas, all are accessed directly from outside, and many also have a second door leading straight out into the gardens. The Emin Pasha Hotel also offers in-house massage, reflexology and beauty treatments. All the rooms have air-conditioning,tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephones, internet and satellite television.

There are 8 Garden Rooms with outside terrace, 2 Garden Suites (with additional indoor seating areas and outdoor terraces) 8 Superior Rooms (upper level with Garden views), and 2 Superior Suites (with indoor sitting rooms).

Dining and bars 

The ‘Fez Brasserie and Wine Bar’ at the Emin Pasha Hotel is arguably one of the best places to eat and drink in Kampala. The ambience is inviting and the food is outstanding. In the bar - which is completely open to the elements on one side - deep sofas, armchairs and chunky coffee tables invite relaxation. There are glowing fires in terracotta pots and waiters in white djellabas and crimson fezes.  The wine list is extensive as is the wide range of cocktails and single malt whiskeys. The restaurant is open to the tropical evening via the garden terrace. On the roof is a ‘bar under the stars’ ideal for sundowners. 

Conference and event facilities

The hotel offers business suites and WiFi access throughout. There is a small business centre and several private rooms which can be booked for meetings or small conferences. The hotel can also arrange working breakfasts, private meetings, conferences, cocktails etc.
