Built on the site of an old coffee farm, the German-owned Arumeru River Lodge was opened in 2005 and offers just ten two-roomed luxury thatched cottages set in spacious grounds, bounded by two rivers. The lodge offers a heated swimming pool with a stunning thatched open-sided area, which houses a fine-dining restaurant (French chef) and bar. The lodge main building offers a lounge with open fire, bar and reception (business centre and boutique).The Arumeru River Lodge terrace restaurant offers view of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro and the gardens. The Luxury rooms overlook the river and swamp area, which offers three species of monkey and a wide variety of birds. The lodge offers a solar-heated swimming pool and sundeck, a jogging trail, a boutique and internet facilities.

Location
The lodge is 700 metres south of the Arusha-Moshi Road, just 35 minute’s drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport and 15 minutes from Arusha town.
Arusha is connected by daily internal flights with Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Mwanza. There are several flights weekly to the Seronera airstrip in Serengeti National Park, Musoma and Shinyanga. There are also frequent flights to Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. Several international airlines have flights into Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), which is half way between Arusha and Moshi whilst a number of internal flights use Arusha Airport (about 8km out of town).  

Accommodation
The Arumeru River Lodge offers just 20 luxury ensuite rooms, each of which are housed in double chalets and offer double or twin beds with mosquito nets.

Dining and bars
The lodge offers a spacious thatched and vaulted dining area with open fireplace and an outdoor terrace restaurant. There is a French chef and a well-stocked bar and wine cellar. Menus at the lodge typically reflect the best of Tanzania choices, vegetarian options, safari specials and international favourites

Conferences and events
Arumeru River Lodge does not offer specific conference facilities but will be happy to quote for small meetings and social gatherings. A wide range of Tanzania incentives can also be arranged in or around the area.
