Land of lakes
Lake Mburo National Park is the place where you can find gigantic Eland Antelopes. There are large numbers of migrant and habitual species of Birdlife in the park. The Hippopotamus, Crocodiles and Water Birds are attracted by the five Lakes within the park. These Lakes provide great opportunities for the development of different recreation activities such as Swimming, Boat Riding, and Sport Fishing. Fringing swamps area perfect habitat for the rare and shy Sitatunga Antelopes and Red, Black and Yellow Papyrus Gonalek. Lake Mburo National Park is the closest park to Kampala, and park has around 300 different species of Birdlife including Shoebill Stork, White-Winged Warblers, Black-Billed Barbet, Crested Francolin, Brown Parrot, Red Necked Spur, Emerald-Spotted Wood Dove, Temminck’s Courser, Common Quails, Greenwood Hoopoe, Blue-Napped Mouse Bird, etc.
Wildlife highlights: leopard, spotted hyena, olive baboon, vervet monkey, zebra, impala, buffalo, eland, waterbuck, topi, sitatunga aquatic antelope, hippo, Nile crocodile and three species of otter. Birds: 315 species of birds have been recorded including the rare shoebill stork and the African finfoot.
