Haller Park

Mombasa's North Coast is nature lover's paradise. Here, visitors get to meet two of its most famous inhabitants: Owen the hippo and Mzee the Tortoise, who became inseperable roomates over time. Owen was found in 2004, at that time being a one-year old baby hippo, rescued from a tsunami. Mzee is an Aldabra Giant Tortoise, who is believed to be 130 years old. The two with time became inseparable.  Haller park has been recognised world wide as a showcase of ecological rehabilitation.

(Note this Half Day tour operates from Mombasa North Coast only)

14h30 depart for Haller Park
Haller Park was a barren, lunar-type landscape turned into an ecologically sustainable wonder. Over the past 3 decades, quarries that were previously excavated by Bamburi Cement for cement production have now been transformed into a variety of recreational facilities including forest nature trails and game sanctuaries not forgetting crocodile and fish farms.  A guided tour by a professional guide will outline the fascinating ecosystem of the world famous park.  Your guide will be glad to point out to you the flora and fauna of this paradise. It is a home to amongst other animals, hippos, antelope, giraffe, reptiles, giant tortoises, fish and birdlife.  17h00 after the tour, you will leave the park and proceed to your bus for your return transfer back to your hotel.
